All I remember of Grandpa Nesbit is that he was a farmer in London Mills, a veteran of the Spanish American War (since we used to have his rifle in our closet), and that he died of cancer when we were young.

Grandma Nesbit was a voracious reader and crossword puzzle solver who came to visit every Sunday during her last years living at the Veteran's Home in Quincy, Illinois.

Grandpa Sampson was a real handyman and mechanic, who ran the Conoco Station in London Mills. He was also a great storyteller and natural musician. I don't know how many times I heard him play "Bye, Bye Blackbird" on his saxaphone.

Grandma Sampson was the consumate homemaker who kept her little house spotless and organized. She was a great hugger and no one ever made better beef and noodles!
